iTMS Sales Back On The Rise?

A little over a month ago, I reported that sales at Apple's iTunes Music Store had apparently leveled off. I'm pleased to report that with the ramp up to the 500-millionth song, iTMS sales on a per-day average have increased by 350,000 songs, which is an increase of 26%. That's a pretty large increase even with the promotional contests they were running, so I'm sure most of that increase will carry over to the next period.

Looking back at the data, I can see why sales were stagnant for the March-June period. During the holiday period, Sales took a rather dramatic climb, going from 500,000 songs-per-day to 1.28 million. Naturally, there was some market fatigue. If it hadn't been for the 5 million iPods sold during that quarter, iTMS sales probably would have dropped. It will be interesting to see if that fatigue re-surfaces next spring.
